Individual FAQs - Collections (Payment Plans)

If you have a balance of $250 or more, you may be eligible to set up a payment plan.  Sign up for a payment plan online through MyAccount or contact the Collections Department at (800) 860.7482, ext. 5004, to discuss payment arrangement options. 

To qualify, the underlying balance must be from a tax return already filed with RITA.

No, estimates do not qualify for payment plans. The balance owed must relate to a tax return filed with RITA.
No. By setting up a payment plan, penalty and interest freeze for those tax years. Penalty and interest will increase if you default on your payment plan.

• You get to set up your monthly due date that works for you.
• Your monthly payment must be paid every month by the due date.
• Failure to make your monthly payments on time will result in additional penalty and interest charges.
• Future tax balances may be added to the payment plan, increasing your monthly payment amount.
• Options are available online via MyAccount to enroll in eBilling and Auto-Pay.

ONLINE: Online payments are quick and easy, and can be made via the following:
• Logging into MyAccount and selecting Payment Plan Payment.
• Logging into MyAccount and enrolling in Auto-Pay so that your monthly payments are automatically paid each month.
• Using FastPay, selecting Payment Plan Payment.

PLEASE NOTE:  A processing fee will apply if paying with a credit or debit card.

Yes. Once you have signed up for a payment plan, you can enroll in AutoPay in MyAccount by selecting “Enroll in Autopay”. Once enrolled, your payment will be debited from your checking or savings account each month for the agreed monthly amount.
Your account may be referred to our Legal Department and legal action may be taken against you.
