If the balance including the court costs is paid in full  before the hearing, the case will be dismissed and you do not need to attend the hearing.   Please note the balance must include the court costs.  This information can be found by logging into MyAccount, shown in the legal balance, or on the small claims complaint.

The court costs were paid by the municipality when the complaint was filed. The court costs must be collected from you regardless if you attend the hearing.

Sign up for a payment plan online through MyAccount or contact the Legal Department at (800) 860.7482, ext. 5005, to discuss your payment options. You can also attend the hearing where a RITA representative will be available. Once a payment plan is established through MyAccount you can also enroll in eBilling and Payment Plan Auto Pay to set up recurring automatic monthly debits from your checking or savings account.  If a payment plan is set up, a judgment will be requested.  So long as you remain current in your payments, no further legal or collection efforts will be taken.

An agreed judgment entry may be sent to you providing the payment plan terms.  This document will be filed with the court to obtain judgment and resolve the case.  It will need to be signed and sent back through email or online using Document Upload.

A judgment is a final determination by the court that the money requested in the complaint is a valid debt. If you refuse to pay the debt, the judgment gives the municipality the right to garnish wages, attach bank accounts, file liens against your property, or levy your federal or state refunds and gambling or lottery winnngs through the Ohio Attorney General's Office.

Once a judgment is obtained and RITA's collections efforts are exhausted, the account will be turned over to our collection agency, Tiffany & Bosco P.A., for post-judgment collections including wage garnishment, bank attachments, and the filing of liens against property. They can be reached at (216) 367.7744.

Once Tiffany & Bosco P.A.'s collection efforts are exhausted, the account will be turned over to the Ohio Attorney General's Office for levy of federal or state refunds, as well as gambling and lottery winnings.   They can be reached at (888) 871.8838.

RITA does not report judgments to the credit bureaus; however, because a judgment is public reccord it may be picked up by the bureaus.
No. By setting up a payment plan, penalty and interest freeze for those tax years.  Statutory interest would accrue if you default on your payment plan and your account gets turned over to our collection agency.

The municipality will file a satisfaction of judgment with the court. The satisfaction is the document that indicates to the court that the debt has been paid in full. If you are paying by ACH or check, the suit will not be satisfied until the payment clears.

Agreed and consent judgment entries can be returned to RITA via email, online using Document Upload, or by fax at (440) 922-3515.
